I wanted to take some time to talk to you about an organization that we at the Matin Group are proud to support.  It’s called Project Lemonade and it is a charity here in Portland that provides support for foster youth in our area.  I feel that one of the biggest challenges our community faces, is sheltering displaced children and I’m proud to say that we’ve partnered with Project Lemonade.

Project Lemonade, is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to: “Inspire self-esteem in foster youth.”  They do this by providing high quality clothing and everyday supplies to foster youth all around Oregon and Washington.  Though the program, foster youth have access to everything from shoes, shirts, socks, jackets, backpacks and everything in between.  We’ve chosen to help support the cause in a couple of ways.

First, we’ve committed to holding sock drives at each of our quarterly events as well as contributing large numbers of socks on our own.  Kids go through socks extremely fast, so they’re always in need of a fresh pair and this is great way for us to help them out.  Something to think about if you’re considering donating at one of our events (and I really hope you are), is that they need socks for all shapes and sizes.  The age range for foster youth goes from the very, very young, all the way up to 18 years old so it’s important to keep that in mind when donating.

Second, a portion of each of our sales is donated directly to Project Lemonade.  Obviously, any non-profit needs some financial assistance to help keep the organization running so we’re proud to be able to help them in that regard.  If you’re interested in donating to their cause on your own, you can visit them for more info at: www.projectlemonadepdx.org
